Sales Assistant – Jewellery & Repairs

H. Stain Ltd | Victoria, Central London

H. Stain Ltd is a traditional, family-owned jeweller established in 1914. Located at the corner of Victoria Street and Buckingham Palace Road, just moments from Victoria Station, we are one of London's most established and distinctive independent jewellers.

Our business offers an exceptional range of modern, antique and second-hand jewellery, diamonds, luxury watches, precious stones and silverware. We are also specialists in jewellery, watch and clock repairs, restoration and bespoke commissions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sales Assistant to join our friendly and knowledgeable team, with special responsibility for managing customer repairs and workshop requirements.

The Role

This is a varied position combining retail sales with responsibility for the day-to-day handling of jewellery, watch and other repairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service and building long-term relationships with customers.
  • Assisting customers with the purchase of jewellery, watches and other items.
  • Receiving jewellery, watches and other items for repair.
  • Accurately assessing and recording customers' repair requirements.
  • Liaising with customers regarding repair estimates, timescales and completed work.
  • Working closely with our specialist repairers and workshops.
  • Ensuring repairs are carefully documented, tracked and returned to customers efficiently.
  • Assisting with general shop duties and maintaining high standards of presentation.
  • Developing a broad knowledge of jewellery, watches, precious metals and gemstones.

The Ideal Candidate

Jewellery industry or retail experience would be preferred, particularly experience of jewellery and watch repairs. However, we are primarily looking for someone who is personable, organised, reliable and genuinely interested in the products and services we provide.

You should have:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A professional and friendly manner.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence dealing with valuable and sometimes sentimental items.
  • An interest in jewellery, watches and antiques.
  • The ability to work independently while also being part of a small and experienced team.
  • Previous experience in a jeweller's shop or with repairs would be an advantage.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work for a well-established independent jeweller with over 112 years of history.
  • A varied and interesting role with significant responsibility.
  • The opportunity to develop specialist knowledge across jewellery, watches and repairs.
  • A friendly, experienced and supportive working environment.
  • A five-day working week, Monday to Friday – no weekend working.
  • A competitive salary, dependent on experience.

If you are looking for a varied and rewarding role within a traditional independent jeweller, and enjoy providing exceptional personal service, we would be delighted to hear from you.

To apply, please send your CV and a brief covering letter outlining your relevant experience.
