Data Solution Architect
Butterfly Data is looking to hire a motivated and talented data solution architect with extensive experience working on data-focussed projects to join our consulting team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership in order for us to deliver high-quality projects to the range of clients that we work for.
The Role
- You will be responsible for making sure our technical solutions are aligned with industry-wide best practices, delivering what is best for the client
- You will ensure that the end-to-end solution designs for the projects we deliver align with our clients’ technology strategies and requirements.
- You will be leading and inspiring other data professionals, making sure we deliver high-quality work that meets the requirements of the project and client.
The Candidate
- You are passionate about technology and are capable of providing technical direction within an organisation.
- You are someone who can build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- You must be confident and able to communicate effectively, being able to understand and communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical staff.
- You are someone who understands how data can be used effectively within organisations, helping us to put “data behind every decision” with our clients.
Essential Requirements
- Fluent English, with the right to work in the UK.
- Must be a UK resident who has lived in the UK for 5+ years as this is an essential requirement for obtaining UK Security Clearance via , which is a requirement for the role.
- A numerate or technical degree, NVQ Level 4 or relevant experience.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 7+ years experience working in a technical field.
- Experience of working in secure or highly regulated environments.
- Experienced with best practices in data governance and data management.
- Extensive understanding of cloud systems from an architecture and security perspective.
- Ability and experience to architect end-to-end data solutions, presenting them to a range of stakeholders and review boards.
- Ability to deliver end-to-end on a project, including planning, testing etc, with risks and issues for the project captured and managed.
- Ability to effectively mentor and upskill junior staff.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience delivering in public sector organisations.
- Familiarity with information security standards, policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with Agile Development and Deployment (Scrum, SAFe, etc.).
- Architecture qualifications such as TOGAF, AWS, Azure, GCP etc
- Other relevant qualifications for the data industry such as DAMA.

- Competitive salary - Between £65,000-85,000 depending on experience and ability.

Interview Process
The job advert closes on Tuesday 28th July.
The 1st round will be remote, and then we expect one or both of the 2nd and 3rd rounds to be in-person in Cardiff or Manchester.
- Screening Interview with our HR team to understand if you’d be suitable for the role.
- 2nd Round Interview with two members of our consultancy team to understand your relevant skills and experience
- Final Round interview with a senior member of the team, where you will be asked to deliver a presentation explaining a project you have been involved with.
