Full job description

Applications Engineer (Electron Microscopy) - Graduate / Early-Career

North West England - Remote (1x monthly meeting in Liverpool)

£36,000-£44,000 + Worldwide Travel + Flexible Working + Holiday + Bank Holidays + Pension

Are you a recent Master's or PhD graduate with hands-on electron microscopy experience (TEM/STEM/SEM/FIB-SEM), looking to join a cutting-edge scientific software start-up with global travel and high autonomy?

Do you want to become the technical bridge between world-leading researchers and an R&D team, helping deploy and support pioneering software within microscopy?

This innovative company have been recently established and are now scaling rapidly. They are bringing a genuinely disruptive microscopy software product to market, with huge scope for long-term growth as the business expands globally.

In this role you will support customers with installation, configuration and troubleshooting, deliver demos and technical training, and feed real-world user insight back into the software roadmap. You'll also support pre-sales activities and represent the company at conferences and events. Travel is occasional (typically 1-2 days per month).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a scientifically minded graduate / early-career Applications Engineer who wants autonomy, global exposure, and the chance to join at an early stage in a high-growth technology business.

The Role

  • Applications Engineer supporting global scientific customers (remote + occasional travel)
  • Install/configure/troubleshoot electron microscopy software integrations
  • Deliver product demos, workshops and technical training (live + remote)
  • Work closely with R&D, translating customer feedback into product improvements
  • Support pre-sales and attend conferences/trade shows

The Person

  • Recent Master's or PhD graduate in Physics / Materials Science / Engineering / Biology (or similar)
  • Hands-on electron microscopy experience: TEM / STEM / SEM and/or FIB-SEM (through research/projects is fine)
  • Comfortable customer-facing, problem-solving and communicating technical concepts
  • Desirable: experience supporting users (training, lab support, demos), based in the North West
