Full job description
Join the front lines of the information battle and become a Royal Signals Network Engineer, a specialism within the Communications Engineer role.
As a Communications Engineer in the Royal Signals, specialising as a Network Engineer, you'll be responsible for installing and maintaining tactical networks that provide essential connectivity for our troops during missions and exercises.
Your Role:
- Prepare, Configure, Deploy, and Maintain tactical and operational communications systems
- Engineer diverse systems including radios, satellite systems, computer networks and mobile communications
- Support software applications across a wide range of platforms
Where You'll Make a Difference: Network Engineers serve across Government Departments, Royal Air Force, Navy, Special and Airborne Forces, Cyber Defence, Electronic Warfare and Bomb Disposal.
Entry requirements: age 16 years 6 months to 35 years 11 months. GCSE grade 4/C or above in Maths or ICT and grade 3/D or above in English (or equivalent).
Training for the role:
- Step 1: Initial military training, how to be a soldier
- Step 2: Technical training in basic signalling and communications skills, building and configuring networks
Qualifications you could earn:
- Driving Licences: CAT C + E
- Level 4 Network Engineer Apprenticeship
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English
- Through life learning up to Masters Degree level
Pay and benefits: You'll earn £27,282 a year from the start of your training. On completion of your initial trade training, your skills and qualifications attract another pay increase.
