Full job description

This isn't your typical care sector job. You won't be working on the care floor.

In this full time, in-person role, you'll be joining a small, ambitious Head Office team based in Shaftesbury, Dorset where no two days are the same.

We believe that well-organised, well-connected data makes a direct, tangible difference to the care we deliver. Our team's job is to make that happen: solving problems, building systems, and using technology to make care more sustainable, safe and compliant. We're a lean team, which means you'll have real ownership from day one. You won't be a cog in a large IT department - you'll be the person who spots the problem, builds the fix, and watches it go live.

We care far more about how you think than what's on your CV. If you're curious, methodical, and genuinely enjoy figuring things out, we'll provide the training and context you need to succeed.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and building automated workflows that connect our care management and admin systems, making data work harder so our staff don't have to
  • Collaborating with the team to design and implement new digital tools from brief through to rollout
  • Working directly with staff to make sure new systems are adopted and used successfully
  • Writing clear, practical training materials and SOPs
  • Evaluating what's working and iterating, with a firm eye on real-world outcomes - not just technical outputs
  • Providing day-to-day technical support across various systems such as account management, Google Workspace, Slack, and general troubleshooting

What we're looking for

You need to be the kind of person who, when something's broken or inefficient, can't help but want to fix it.

Essential

  • Confident across common IT tasks and digital platforms
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and Google Workspace
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to ask questions
  • Good written communication and interpersonal skills

Genuinely curious about how technology and the real world connect

Desirable - but we'll teach you if not

  • Automation tools: Zapier, Make, n8n
  • Relational databases, especially Airtable
  • Basic scripting, formulae or SQL
  • Website builders: Squarespace, WordPress or Softr
  • Curiosity about data: what it means, how to clean it, and how to make it useful to non-technical people

What we offer

  • Full training from day one - this role is designed to grow with you
  • Direct mentorship from the Director's team, with a real career development path
  • Work on the kind of problems most developers never get near, where the outcome affects someone's quality of life
  • A small, close-knit team where your contributions are visible and valued

An Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Fonthill Care is an equal opportunities employer. We actively welcome applications from neurodiverse candidates and anyone who brings a different way of thinking - that's not a box-tick, it's genuinely how we work best.
