We are seeking a proactive and detail oriented Junior Legal/Contracts Officer to support the legal, contracts, and governance functions of the business. This varied and fast paced role involves assisting with board processes, legal documentation, and contract administration, working closely with internal stakeholders to help ensure smooth workflows, accurate record keeping, and strong corporate governance across the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the corporate governance of the Altenar group of Companies, including arranging board meetings and preparing agendas and board packs.
  • Assisting with the creation and preparation of documents for presentation to the Board of Directors for review and signature, particularly customer onboarding documentation.
  • Attending board meetings to assist with the recording and preparation of accurate board minutes.
  • Working with the Contracts Manager to ensure legal documents progress efficiently from drafting and collaboration (with all relevant stakeholders) through negotiation to execution.
  • Ensuring physical and electronic filing is completed promptly and accurately, including maintaining internal document databases and records.
  • Assisting the Compliance department with customer and supplier on-boarding processes.
  • Supporting general company administration, including insurance and data protection renewals and other corporate administrative requirements as they arise.
  • Assisting with banking administration and payment processes, as required.
  • Providing general administrative and ad-hoc business support as required from time to time.

Essential Requirements

  • Good standard of general education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proactive and self motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new processes, systems, and areas of the business.
  • Ability to follow instruction carefully while also using initiative and sound judgement.


Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in an administrative, governance, legal support, compliance or company secretarial role, including exposure to board meetings or governance processes
  • Experience working within a regulated industry or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation, contracts administration, or compliance processes.
  • Experience maintaining document management systems or internal databases.
  • Understanding of customer and supplier onboarding processes.
  • Knowledge of data protection requirements and general corporate administration.
