Join a dedicated team making a real difference in young people's lives through transformative youth justice work in Hackney.
Contract to start ASAP until 23-12-26 with a possible extension.
Responsibilities:
To ensure Youth Justice work in Hackney is of a high quality and is undertaken in accordance with national and best practice guidance for youth justice and with particular regard to ensuring effective systems are in place to manage risk and vulnerability.
Be responsible for the QA process in Hackney YJS; Setting up routines, processes and progress reports.
This will include monthly Case Audits and summaries of issues and progress; arranging and leading National Standards Annual reviews; QA and sign off pre-sentence and RO reports and Asset Plus countersignatures; clearing Post Report/Court Modules for Connectivity/YJAF use; this includes being part of audit and Quality Assurance responsibilities for (PSR/RO/Breach/Licence) ensuring National Standards and effective practice requirements are being met.
Analyse performance data to ensure statutory processes are timely and that the service as a whole is efficient and effective in delivering positive outcomes for young people.
To project manage and report on the delivery of local improvement and statutory YJ Plans, lead the design, development and delivery of effective methods of shared individual, unit and service learning opportunities, be this 1-1 coaching or mentoring support, small groups, task and finish groups, unit or service briefings and/or training events.
To work as part of a team and contribute to the development and delivery of comprehensive programmes (individual and group) that impact positively to build resilience, thinking skills, developing identity and acknowledging the lived experience and previous harms (or traumas) that our cohort children have experienced.
These include developing evidence based individual and group programmes to prevent children becoming involved in crime and for those who have already offended.
These will be developed in line with current legislation and best practice guidance and delivered in writing as presentations, process charts, reports, policy or practice guidance or as content in the Hackney Youth Justice Practice Standards.
Be part of duty management rota and tasks undertaking day to day operational management decisions as required for example arranging Late Night Rotas at 275 Mare Street and participate in weekend rotas as required.
Share in responsibility for the commissioning strategy for the YJS that, with internal partners (Young Hackney), seeks to develop a range of offers that meets the needs of children on YRO Intensive Surveillance and Support Requirements, as well as girls and young women, positive activities during summer and half terms, and to ensure that the diverse needs of the YJS cohort are met by close work with local and national voluntary community sector organisations.
Develop practice and processes that effectively establishes rapport, builds respectful relationships with children, young people, families and their support networks and ensures that their views and wishes are heard and recorded accurately.
This may include the recruitment, training and support of children as peer reviewers, or strategic Safer Young Hackney Board, or shadow Youth Board members.
There will be occasions when you will Chair meetings such as Compliance Panels or Licence Reviews, or Intervention Planning meetings. Part of continuous learning and assessing practice you may be asked to be responsible for any Critical Learning Review authorship seeking to identify future learning and improvements in YJS practice.
