About us

As a social care provider based in South East London supporting Young People leaving care aged 16-18, we provide semi-independent accommodation and key work support, working with social services and other professionals to support our Young People and assist them in developing their independent living skills. Our organisation is committed to the safeguarding and protection of the young people in our care.

As a Key Worker reporting to the Operations Manager and Management Team, you will have a minimum of 3 years social care experience and will be able to clearly demonstrate your understanding of safeguarding young people. You will be an effective communicator, with good verbal and non-verbal skills. You will have a good level of English and Maths, displaying competence in writing reports and detailing incidents, ensuring all records are kept up to date and accurate. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of working with young people, ideally with experience in semi-independent care. You will be able to demonstrate your competence in working alone or as part of a team, with the ability to use your own initiative. You will participate in ongoing mandatory training to demonstrate competence and commitment to safeguarding.

You should have knowledge and understanding of the Children’s Act, Children’s Social Care, as well as Equalities issues and their promotion. Experience of working with people of different ethnic backgrounds is essential. You will also have an awareness of the Data Protection Act and the ability to strictly adhere to confidentiality policies

Requirements

* NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Social Care, or willingness to work towards one

*Registered on DBS Online Update Service

* Experience of working in a social care setting

*Experience of keywork or support work

* Good standard of literacy and observation skills

* GCSE English and Maths or equivalent

* Experience of working with people of different ethnic backgrounds

* Ability to be flexible with work patterns

Desirable

* Beneficial but not necessary for post-holder to hold a valid driving licence and own a car.
