Full job description

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our welcoming team at Danesford Grange Care Home.

Danesford Grange is a privately owned care home based in the idyllic town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The home, sat in around 2 acres of land is located in the Shropshire countryside right on the bank of the river seven. The current founders have owned the home since 1990 and the current manager has worked here for nearly 20 years.

Danesford Grange offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for both the residents and the staff. The dedicated team of staff provide high quality nursing care to the elderly and residents with dementia.

The Home Manager is very flexible and can accommodate both full and part time hours, we welcome applications from those with experience and those who may not have experience but are passionate about care and would like to try something new.

General Kitchen Assistant Duties:

· To maintain a safe, clean and hygienic working environment.

· To wash all pots, crockery and cutlery as necessary.

· To assist with the preparation of meals and snacks.

· To attend training when required.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

· Ensure food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.

· Wash utensils and dishes and store appropriately.

· To lay trays for meal services.

· To prepare and serve breakfast items, toast/sandwiches.

· To prepare trolleys for drinks and snacks.

· To dispose of waste accordingly.

· To adhere to compliance forms and fill out as necessary.

· To check and store deliveries appropriately.

· To clean catering equipment and record appliance temperatures.

· To maintain high levels of personal hygiene.

· To be prepared to work as part of a team as well as alone.

· To offer and record resident’s food choices, promote choice and be aware of modified diets.

Requirements:

· To understand the importance of food safety.

· Able to work alone as well as part of a team.

· Some knowledge of working with vulnerable adults and dementia. Training will be given.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to listen and learn.

· Ability to treat people with dignity.

· To have flexibility and the ability to cover annual leave and sickness when required.

Rate of pay: According to age and experience
