These positions are for self employment carrying out second fix and kitchen installations as well as wet wall to a site in West Craigs Edinburgh
Pricework is also available. Targets need to be met if the rate is preferred
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team on second fix and kitchens. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various carpentry techniques and a passion for building and construction. This role requires proficiency in using both hand and power tools, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints. The Carpenter will be responsible for executing a variety of tasks, from framing and roofing to joinery and fabrication.
Duties
- Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, and wallboard.
- Perform joinery tasks including the assembly of cabinets, furniture, and other wooden items.
- Fabricate custom pieces according to specifications provided in blueprints or sketches.
- Utilise power tools such as saws, drills, and sanders to complete projects efficiently.
- Assemble and install frameworks such as windows, doors, and staircases.
- Carry out masonry work when required, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
- Conduct painting tasks to finish woodwork to a high standard.
- Assist with electrical installations related to carpentry projects as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Carpenter or similar role in the construction industry.
- Proficient in using hand tools (hammers, chisels) and power tools (saws, drills).
- Strong knowledge of joinery techniques and masonry skills is advantageous.
- Ability to read technical documents and blueprints accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labour for extended periods.
- Knowledge of roofing techniques is beneficial.
- Familiarity with plumbing basics related to carpentry tasks is a plus.
- A valid driving licence may be required for site visits.
