Full job description

John Lewis of Hungerford and Eden Browne are looking for a skilled Kitchen Fitter who takes pride in their work and delivers a high standard of finish.

Working across two distinctive kitchen brands, you'll fit kitchens in customers’ homes, bringing our designs to life with care, accuracy and attention to detail. We’re looking for someone with strong practical skills, a professional approach and the ability to build a good rapport with customers.

The role

You’ll work closely with our design and installations teams to complete kitchen installations in line with agreed plans and specifications, travelling to customer sites across London, the South East and the South West.

You’ll be confident reading technical drawings, resolving fitting challenges and managing your work efficiently. Clear communication is essential, keeping customers and the installations team informed of progress and raising any issues promptly.

You’ll need your own suitable van for the role. A car allowance will be paid alongside your salary, with work-related expenses covered by the company.

What you’ll be doing

  • Installing kitchen cabinetry, doors, drawers, panels, plinths, cornices and other finishing details.
  • Reading and interpreting kitchen plans, technical drawings and installation specifications.
  • Checking site conditions, measurements and delivered items before starting work.
  • Carrying out accurate cutting, scribing, levelling and adjustments to achieve a precise fit.
  • Fitting handles, internal storage mechanisms and integrated appliance doors.
  • Coordinating with worktop installers and other trades to keep the installation moving forward.
  • Identifying and reporting missing items, damage or site issues promptly.
  • Completing snagging and remedial work to the same high standard as the main installation.
  • Protecting customers’ homes and maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working area.
  • Keeping the installations team updated on progress and completion.

About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven kitchen fitting experience: confident completing installations to a high standard.
  • Strong carpentry and joinery skills: able to achieve accurate fitting and a clean finish.
  • Attention to detail: committed to getting both the practical and visual details right.
  • Problem-solving ability: able to assess fitting challenges and agree suitable solutions with the team.
  • A professional manner: polite, reliable and comfortable working in customers’ homes.
  • Good communication skills: able to work effectively with customers, designers and other trades.
  • An organised approach: able to plan work, manage time and meet agreed installation schedules.
  • The ability to read technical drawings: confident translating plans into a finished kitchen.
  • Willingness to travel: able to work at customer sites across London, the South East and the South West.

Experience fitting bespoke or premium kitchens would be an advantage. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a wider installation team.

What we offer

  • A salaried, employed position with salary dependent on experience.
  • A car allowance in addition to your salary.
  • Paid work-related expenses.
  • The opportunity to work across John Lewis of Hungerford and Eden Browne.
  • Varied kitchen projects where your craftsmanship makes a visible difference.
  • Support from our design and installations teams.

How to apply

Please apply through Indeed with your CV or a summary of your relevant experience, including your availability. Photographs of previous kitchen installations would also be welcome.
