Highly Experienced Fitted Furniture / Bedroom Fitter
Superior Bedrooms Ltd – Greater Manchester
Full-time, Permanent
£38,000–£45,000 per year DOE + Performance & Quality Bonus
Established Since 1965 | Long-Term Career Opportunity
Superior Bedrooms is a long-established, family-run fitted furniture company that has been trading since 1965.
With more than 60 years of experience manufacturing and installing fitted furniture, we have built our reputation around quality workmanship, good service and taking pride in the finished job.
We are now entering an exciting period of growth and are looking for a highly experienced fitted furniture fitter to become a key long-term member of our team.
This is not a trainee or improver position.
We are looking for an experienced fitter who already has the skills and confidence to complete high-quality installations independently and deal professionally with customers in their homes.
The Role
You will be responsible for installing our bespoke fitted furniture throughout Greater Manchester and the surrounding local area.
Our work is predominantly local to Greater Manchester. You will not routinely be expected to travel all over the North West.
Our installations include:
- Fitted wardrobes and bedroom furniture
- Hinged and sliding-door wardrobes
- Bespoke storage
- Media walls and TV units
- Alcove units
- Home offices and desks
- Under-stairs storage
- Shelving and cabinetry
- Other bespoke fitted furniture
We are looking for somebody who can genuinely take responsibility for an installation — from receiving the job from our workshop through to handing the completed room back to the customer.
What We Expect
The successful candidate should already be a skilled and experienced fitter capable of working independently.
When joining Superior Bedrooms, you will spend approximately one month working alongside us, learning our products, construction methods, installation standards and the Superior Bedrooms way of working.
This is familiarisation rather than basic fitter training.
After this period, we would expect you to be capable of taking responsibility for installations with minimal supervision, solving normal fitting problems yourself and completing jobs to the standard our customers expect.
You should be confident with:
- Reading plans, drawings and job specifications
- Accurately measuring on site
- Scribing panels, fillers and furniture to uneven walls, floors and ceilings
- Installing carcasses, gables, shelving and internal fittings
- Fitting doors, hinges, drawer runners, handles and associated hardware
- Cutting and fitting plinths, fillers, trims and finishing panels
- Making accurate adjustments on site
- Working around walls, skirting, pipes and other site conditions
- Identifying and overcoming unexpected fitting problems
- Working neatly and carefully inside customers' homes
- Completing an installation professionally from start to finish
We do not expect every installation to go perfectly to plan.
What matters is having the experience and ability to assess a problem, find a sensible solution and keep the job moving without needing constant supervision.
Who We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in people with substantial experience as a:
- Fitted bedroom fitter
- Fitted furniture installer
- Kitchen fitter
- Bespoke furniture installer
- Cabinet installer
- Experienced joiner with significant fitted-furniture experience
You should be:
- Highly experienced in your trade
- Capable of working independently
- Reliable and dependable
- Accurate and detail-focused
- Confident dealing directly with customers
- Able to problem-solve on site
- Organised and productive
- Respectful of customers' homes
- Able to maintain a clean and professional working environment
- Someone who takes genuine pride in the finished installation
A full UK driving licence is required.
We are looking for somebody we can trust to represent Superior Bedrooms properly when working without supervision.
Salary
£38,000–£45,000 per year depending on experience
Your starting salary will reflect your experience, fitting ability and the standard of work you can demonstrate.
Performance & Quality Bonus
On top of the basic salary, we intend to operate a performance and quality bonus, giving excellent fitters the opportunity to earn above the advertised basic salary.
This is not a high-pressure piece-rate system and we do not want fitters rushing jobs simply to complete more installations.
Superior Bedrooms values quality, attention to detail and efficiency.
Bonus performance may take into account areas such as:
- Quality of workmanship
- Productivity and organisation
- Reliability
- Low snag and callback rates
- Customer satisfaction
- Care of customers' homes
- Care of company jobs, materials and equipment
- Overall consistency and professionalism
We want to reward fitters who can produce excellent work efficiently and consistently — not simply whoever finishes a job fastest.
Long-Term Opportunity
We are not looking for someone to simply fill a position.
We want an experienced fitter who can become an important part of Superior Bedrooms as the company continues to grow.
For the right person, there will be opportunities over time to progress into a Senior Fitter or Lead Fitter position.
As we expand our installation capacity, this could include helping us:
- Maintain fitting standards across the company
- Support newer members of the fitting team
- Help train additional fitters
- Oversee more complex installations
- Help develop additional fitting teams
If you are an experienced fitter looking for a company where you can settle into a long-term position, take ownership of your work and be valued for the standard you produce, we would like to hear from you.
About Superior Bedrooms
Superior Bedrooms has been designing, manufacturing and installing fitted furniture since 1965.
We are an established Greater Manchester family business with more than six decades of experience, and we are now investing in the next stage of the company's growth.
Our aim is to expand without losing the workmanship, customer service and attention to detail that have allowed the business to operate successfully for more than 60 years.
We are therefore looking for an experienced and dependable fitter who wants to become a key long-term member of the team rather than simply another employee.
To Apply
Please apply with your CV and details of your previous fitting experience.
We would particularly like to know:
- How many years you have been fitting
- What types of furniture or kitchens you have fitted
- Whether you currently work independently
- Your experience with bespoke fitted furniture
- Your current or previous responsibilities
Photographs of previous installations or examples of your work would be strongly welcomed.
