Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time dedicated and skilled Kitchen Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and meal creation for both children and staff, ensuring that every dish meets our setting and Head Chef's high standards of quality and presentation.

You will play a vital role in delivering our children's and staff snacks and meals, adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.

Duties

  • Support our Head Chef with preparing and cooking of a variety of meals for children and staff in accordance with recipes, menu specifications and Early Years Foundation Stage Nutrition Guidance.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and room staff to ensure smooth operations during service periods.
  • Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to the kitchen manager.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean, organised, and free from hazards at all times.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a school, nursery kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in meal preparation is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
