About Us

Madame Vy is a modern Vietnamese restaurant and bar bringing fresh, vibrant flavours and warm hospitality to Surbiton. We are expanding our kitchen team and looking for skilled, reliable Kitchen Cook/Assistant to support our Head Chef in delivering consistent, high‑quality dishes.

Job Summary

This is an entry‑level role suitable for someone reliable, organised, and eager to learn. Full training provided.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Cook/Assistant to support our culinary team with passion and precision. As a key member in our kitchen, you will support food production, adopt high standards of food safety, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. You enjoy working in a team, seek high culinary standards, and help to maintain the smooth kitchen operation.

Responsibilities

  • Help prepare, cook, and present dishes to restaurant standards.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and safe.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment.
  • Help receive and store deliveries.
  • Maintain hygiene standards throughout the shift.
  • Support chefs and other sections to ensure seamless service delivery during busy hours.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Kitchen Cook/Assistant.
  • Strong knife skills with confident, accurate chopping, slicing, speed, consistency and safe handling during high-volume prep.
  • Confident frying skills with good control of temperature, handling multiple pans, timing, maintaining crisp textures and ensuring consistent results during busy service.
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety standards and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work cleanly, quickly, and efficiently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Experience in Asian/Vietnamese or high‑volume kitchens (preferred but not essential).

Pay: £12.71-£14.50 per hour
