Full job description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to join our expanding kitchen team at Sandburn Hall.

The ideal candidate will relish the opportunity of working in a professional kitchen environment with a dedicated team, vibrant atmosphere and a great team spirit. Maintaining the excellent levels of health and hygiene will be a major focus for this role.

This is a part time position with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week split over a flexible rota to include a mix of mornings, evenings and weekends. Full training will be provided (subject to experience). Opportunities for progression will also be available for the right candidate.

Own transport required – located just off A64 at Flaxton.

Pay rate - Up to £12.75 per hour subject to age.

Main Duties and Responsibilities to include:

  • Carrying out basic cleaning tasks
  • Collecting and washing up kitchen equipment. Cleaning crockery & cutlery.
  • Ensuring fridges and storerooms remain organised and clean
  • Making sure work surfaces, floors and walls are always clean and sanitised.
  • Cleaning counter tops, walls, stoves and grills
  • Removing of waste and disposing of correctly.
  • Opportunity to learn basic knife skills and food prep.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food preparation experience
  • Previous restaurant or kitchen experience
  • Ability to handle knives safely
  • Knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and safety procedures
