Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and possess a keen eye for detail and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes in a vibrant restaurant environment, delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene while showcasing creativity and precision in every dish prepared.

Duties

  • Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with accuracy and artistry
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Assist in developing new sushi recipes and presentation styles to enhance menu offerings
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service during busy periods
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including food safety protocols
  • Serve dishes to guests with professionalism and courtesy, providing excellent customer service when required

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a professional kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to Japanese cuisine, especially sushi making
  • Experience with cooking methods, meal preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety
  • Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, particularly in establishments specialising in Japanese or Asian cuisine
  • Familiarity with serving procedures in a fast-paced dining setting is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
