Bishop Wordsworth’s School is seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Science Technician to join our Science Department, providing high-quality technical and practical support to teaching and learning across the sciences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a scientific background and practical skills to become part of a busy and successful department. Previous experience in a school laboratory would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in other scientific or technical environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Science Technician, fellow technicians and teaching staff to ensure that practical lessons are well prepared, laboratories are maintained to a high standard and equipment and resources are managed safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, chemicals and materials for practical science lessons.

  • Supporting the day-to-day running and maintenance of laboratories, preparation rooms and equipment.

  • Ensuring the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and materials in accordance with COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance.

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider technician team to support the delivery of the science curriculum.
