Analyst - Grade 1 - Inorganics

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Grade 1 Analyst to join the Inorganics department at ALS in Coventry, West Midlands .

In this role, you will be responsible for analysing a range of samples, ensuring all work is completed within the required timescales and to the highest quality standards. You will primarily be trained in pH, EC and Alkalinity analysis using SP2000 Skalar robots, as well as Cyanide analysis using SAN++ series Skalar instruments, which utilise continuous flow analysis. Once you are trained and competent on all above techniques you will be progressed to a grade 3 analyst.

Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Sunday to Thursday (08:00 - 16:00). Due to emergency cover requirements for one of our major clients, the successful candidate will be expected to be on standby for all bank holidays, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday.
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Annual Salary: £25,878

The Day to Day

  • Understand customer requirements.
  • Ensure samples are completed efficiently and effectively following all process, procedures, and legislation.
  • Deliver on key performance indicators.
  • Report analytical data.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify equipment issues, including daily preventative maintenance.
  • Investigate and report on NCW on the QMS and assign priority.
  • Assist team members to achieve work objectives, including training colleagues to the required standards.
  • Proactively ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures

The Essentials

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (equivalent to new Grade 4) or above to include Science, Maths and English
  • A level or equivalent in scientific subject
  • Previous laboratory experience is beneficial.
  • Customer focussed.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deliver instructional training.
  • Solution focussed.
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent collaborator
  • Methodical and well organised
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
