- Operate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting on laboratory analysers
- Validate and authorise results within your scope of competency under senior supervision
Quality & Compliance
- Work in accordance with current SOPs, UKAS/ISO 15189 standards, and laboratory quality systems
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance (IQA/EQA) programmes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with regulatory requirements
- Report non-conformances, near misses, and any quality concerns promptly to senior staff
Team & Development
- Collaborate closely with the Senior BMS team to support smooth daily operations
- Engage actively in training, competency assessments, and CPD activities
- Support the development of laboratory processes and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture
Requirements
Essential

- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent HCPC-approved qualification
- Genuine passion for blood sciences and a strong desire to grow within a laboratory setting

- Good working knowledge of laboratory best practices and health & safety standards
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and clinical staff
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small, collaborative team
- Highly organised and structured mind with strong critical thinking skills and ability to analyse outcomes scientifically
- Strong understanding of laboratory best practices, QHSE systems, and regulatory frameworks (UKAS, ISO 15189, CPA)
- Proficiency with LIMS platforms and MS Office (particularly Excel for data management and QC trending) and AI tools
Desirable
- Experience with analysers from Werfen, Beckman Coulter, Sebia, Cepheid, or Alifax.
- Practical experience in a haematology, biochemistry, or coagulation laboratory environment (placement, bank, or post-qualification)
