Summary

We are seeking a Cosmetic Chemist to join our busy Product Development Team at Natural Spa Factory. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in chemistry and product development to create and enhance our premium spa products. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining our commitment to quality and innovation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior chemist or regulatory officer with at least 12months industry experience to build on their foundations in formulating, product development, testing, and cosmetic and personal care product regulations.

In this pivotal role, you’ll play a key part in bringing new skincare and beauty products from concept to commercialisation. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch skincare, haircare, and bodycare formulations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and excellence in performance and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulation and development of skincare, haircare, and bodycare products in accordance with marketing briefs and brand direction
  • Conduct advanced stability, compatibility, and performance testing
  • Manage multiple formulation projects and timelines with minimal supervision
  • Prepare and review formulation documentation, specifications, and regulatory compliance reports
  • Manage regulatory submissions, safety assessments, and claims substantiation in accordance with EU and UK regulations
  • Stay up to date with Cosmetic regulations for the UK & EU and other applicable territories to ensure compliance is maintained
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to troubleshoot scale-up and manufacturing challenges
  • Evaluate and recommend new raw materials and technologies aligned with market trends and sustainability goals
  • Participate in internal product reviews and external customer meetings as a technical expert
  • Champion best practices in laboratory safety, efficiency, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12months experience in a formulation or cosmetic regulations role within the cosmetics or personal care industry
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or related discipline (or SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science)
  • Strong understanding of ingredient functionalities, formulation chemistry, and product development lifecycles
  • Excellent documentation, project management, and technical reporting skills
  • Sound knowledge of cosmetic regulations (EU Cosmetics Regulation, UK Cosmetics Regulation, FDA guidelines)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to innovation and problem-solving
