Full job description

Main Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and manufacture of products offered by Altus Science
  • Production planning
  • Processing and fulfilling sales orders
  • Labelling and packaging of sales orders ready for collection or shipping
  • Training and supervision of Laboratory resource
  • Provide support to the Lab Team Leader as required
  • Ensuring the management and cleanliness of laboratory areas and equipment
  • Receiving goods and management of inventory in the laboratory and storage areas
  • Maintaining minimum inventory levels for laboratory equipment, materials and consumables
  • Management of warehouse areas
  • Ensuring maintenance and calibration of equipment is in date
  • Conduct internal audits and produce Corrective Action Requests
  • Involvement in external assessment preparations and audits
  • Support with the validation of processes
  • Produce and update SOPs, forms, templates etc within the QMS
  • Management of non-conformance and root cause investigation
  • Monitor water quality and conduct maintenance if appropriately trained

Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of A Level qualification in a science based subject, HNC/HND or degree level would be desirable
  • Able to plan and prioritise workloads with a clear and methodical approach to work activities with good attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Report writing skills would be desirable
  • Able to develop SOP’s, Forms, Templates etc. A detailed knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 would be desirable, including internal auditing, COSHH and Risk Assessment skills.
  • Additional desirable skills would include – Dangerous Goods shipping, able to operate analytical instrumentation

Personal Skills:

  • Good communicator with a confident manner
  • Organised individual able to supervise resource
  • Reliable, conscientious with a good work ethic
  • Team player with calm manner
  • Desirable would be a highly motivated individual with strong work ethic able to get the best out of the resource deployed under their control
