Join Photocentric – Innovating the Future of Materials

Photocentric is a pioneering British manufacturer of advanced photopolymer resins, LCD 3D printers, and sustainable material technologies. We are driven by innovation, scientific excellence, and a commitment to developing world-class products that challenge conventional manufacturing.

We are seeking a Formulation Chemist to join our R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chemist to develop next-generation resin formulations for additive manufacturing and other advanced applications, working from concept through to commercial production.

The Formulation Chemist Role

As a Formulation Chemist, you will play a key role in researching, designing and optimising formulations to meet demanding performance and manufacturing requirements. Working closely with engineers, product developers and production teams, you will help deliver innovative products to market.

Key Responsibilities as our Formulation Chemist

  • Develop and optimise photopolymer resin formulations for 3D printing and related technologies.
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate formulation performance.
  • Characterise materials using analytical and physical testing techniques.
  • Analyse experimental data and make evidence-based recommendations for formulation improvements.
  • Scale laboratory formulations into pilot and production environments.
  • Support product validation, quality improvement and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and technical documentation.
  • Stay informed of developments in polymer chemistry, materials science and additive manufacturing.
  • Work collaboratively across R&D, Production, Quality and Commercial teams.

Who We're Looking For in our Formulation Chemist

This role is ideal for either a recent Chemistry graduate looking to start their career in formulation and materials development, or an experienced Formulation Chemist seeking their next challenge. We recognise that great people come with different levels of experience, so the role and responsibilities will be tailored to match the successful candidate's skills, knowledge and career stage, with opportunities for training, development and progression.

  • Ability to interpret experimental data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and collaborative approach.

Desirable

  • Experience with UV-curable systems, photopolymers or resin chemistry.
  • Knowledge of polymerisation mechanisms and material characterisation techniques.
  • Experience within additive manufacturing, coatings, adhesives, inks or composites.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical analysis.
  • Experience supporting scale-up from laboratory to manufacturing.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge material technologies.
  • A collaborative and innovative R&D environment.
  • Career development and training opportunities.
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Company pension.
  • Employee benefits package.
