Office Location: Bristol

Working hours: 38 hours per week Monday – Friday (occasional weekend working may be required).

Contract type: 1 year fixed term with the possibility of a move to permanent. Required immediately.

Salary: £25,335 - £26,335 per year

Synopsis:

Olfasense UK Ltd is a market leading environmental consultancy with a world class reputation for providing high quality specialist services for assessment of odour and air quality. Our odour monitoring and consultancy team have an established UK presence, assisting clients across a wide range of industrial sectors to assess and control nuisance odours.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our specialist team to assist in the delivery of high quality odour and air quality projects. The role will be based in our Bristol office, and provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills in an environmental role, with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects.

Main duties and responsibilities:

You will take an active role in the delivery of Olfasense’s environmental odour monitoring and analysis programme, working with Olfasense’s consultants and a diverse range of clients. The duties will include:

  • Collection of environmental air samples from a range of industrial, water and waste sites.
  • In-office sample preparation and collection in support of our product and materials testing projects.
  • Liaison with clients, site operators and consultants.
  • Calibration and maintenance of sampling and laboratory equipment.
  • Assisting with laboratory analyses.
  • Reporting of sampling and analysis results.
  • Maintenance of the Olfasense UKAS accredited quality system.
  • Over-night stays and travel within the UK and Europe.

The role will suit practical and self-motivated applicants who enjoy working outdoors.

Skills and qualities required:

  • Practical experience in environmental monitoring, or MCERTS Level 1 qualification (desirable, but not essential).
  • Problem solving approach, with the motivation to learn and pick up new skills rapidly and accurately.
  • Fantastic communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Enthusiastic team player, hardworking, willingness to succeed.
  • Desire to gain or further progress MCERTS qualifications.
  • Full manual driving licence and passport (ESSENTIAL, applications without these will not be successful).
