Full job description

Previously operating as Microsearch Laboratories, we now trade as ifp-labs UK West Yorkshire Limited. We are a UKAS accredited laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company comprising of five separate laboratories based across two sites.

We currently have a unique entry level opportunity available within our microbiological laboratory team.

Titled as a Microbiological Food Analyst this role is ideally suited to someone keen to learn a new vocation. Specific microbiological experience is not required for this role as full and ongoing training is provided.

Key duties will include:

Preparing food samples & swabs for microbiological analysis by;
- Measuring, weighing and resuscitation of samples.
- Preparation of serial dilutions.
- Inoculation of petri dishes.
- Pouring molten agar.
- Incubation of prepared petri dishes.

Keeping a clean and sanitary working environment.

Strict adherence to laboratory methods.

We’d expect a high level of attention to detail and efficiency in your work at all times, good organisation skills and the aptitude and ability to learn and develop within the work environment.

Shifts available are:

Monday to Friday, 12pm - 8pm, with a 35 minute unpaid break with a 1 in 4 Saturday rota commitment, 8am to 4pm.

Rates of pay are dependent on age and all rates are starting rates. All wages increase with length of service and experience.

Unspent criminal convictions required to be declared at application.
