Title: Quality Technician

Reports to: Quality Manager

Department: Operations

Core Hours: Swing shift 06:00 - 14:15 and 14:00 - 22:15 shift, alternate weeks. You will be required to cover the night shift for holiday/ absence cover.

Purpose of Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Quality Technician to work for a leading PVC manufacturer. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager you will be a key member of the quality team ensuring the production facility manufactures material to specification and control material that doesn’t meet our standards.

Primary Role:

Collecting and testing samples at regular intervals to relevant specifications and to ensure products and raw materials are correct throughout the manufacturing process.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Physical testing of powder and pelletised PVC compound including extrusion, density, softness, colour and others to predetermined specifications.
  • Ensure defective materials are isolated and issues are raised with production staff.
  • Maintaining accurate test records
  • Auditing processes – ensuring process controls are followed and highlighting any weaknesses or non-conformities that arise.
  • Walking the manufacturing facilities ensuring processes and materials are correct.
  • Any other testing as deemed appropriate by the Quality Manager.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Person Specification – Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Maths and English to a minimum of grade C at GCSE (required) and ideally Science in particular chemistry and physics to grade C.
  • Experience of physical testing or working in a laboratory environment would be beneficial but not necessary.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Meticulous.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Proactive.
  • Previous experience of auditing would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Excel.
