Location: Blue Phoenix Laboratory Facility, Bourne, Lincolnshire
Reporting to: Laboratory Supervisor

Blue Phoenix is the UK's leading processor and supplier of Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA), delivering sustainable alternatives to primary aggregates across the construction and civil engineering sectors.

With 10 operational facilities nationwide and approximately 200 employees, we are at the forefront of sustainable resource recovery and the circular economy.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our growing team.

The Role

As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting product quality, operational performance, and regulatory compliance through the testing and analysis of materials.

Working closely with the Laboratory Supervisor and operational teams, you will carry out laboratory testing, manage samples, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate recording and reporting of results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory testing in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Prepare, identify, and track samples to ensure full traceability.
  • Accurately record and report testing results.
  • Assist with investigations into non-conforming results and quality issues.
  • Maintain laboratory records and data management systems.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and calibration verification.
  • Support laboratory stock control and consumable management.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and wider business.

About You

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and enjoys working with data and scientific processes.

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to accurately record and interpret data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Previous laboratory, quality assurance, or materials testing experience.
  • Experience within the waste, recycling, aggregates, construction materials, or environmental sectors.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and procedures.
  • Understanding of quality management systems.
  • Scientific qualification or technical background.
