As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year. Find out more about us here.
Our team in Lancashire for young people up to the age of 25. You will deliver 1:1 and group work, alongside information sessions and drop-in services for young people in the local area. Find out more about this service here.
Job Opportunity
As a Young Persons Worker, you'll be supporting a caseload of young people who are experiencing difficulties with substance misuse. You'll work with them to access their needs, develop care plans, deliver a variety of treatments and/or refer them to other specialist support when needed.
You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take.
This role is offered on a fixed term contract until March 2027 and will work on site, on a full time basis. As a Young Person's Worker, we offer a starting salary of £26,250 per annum. The salary for this role is on an incremental scale and will rise each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,900 per annum. Essential Skills
To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:
- OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months
- experience of working with Young People and/or a qualification in substance misuse, mental health, psychology, nursing or youth work
- evidence of continuous professional development
- experience of completing assessments, risk assessments or care plans with young people
- excellent relationship building skills with a range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, including liaising with professional to support young people
- the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
- good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
- excellent written and oral communication skills, including engaging delivery of presentations to large groups of young people
- the ability to record and maintain accurate case details and in a timely manner
- effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
- access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence
