Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Landscape Operative & Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. Your enthusiasm for groundskeeping and horticulture will help create inviting environments that inspire and delight. Duties
- Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, turfing, seeding and edging to keep outdoor areas pristine
- Operate a variety of power tools including trimmers, blowers, hedge cutters, and lawnmowers safely and efficiently
- Use hand tools for planting, digging, and general groundskeeping activities with precision
- Maintain irrigation systems by inspecting for leaks, adjusting settings, and ensuring proper water distribution
- Operate construction equipment such as excavators for larger landscaping projects or ground preparation tasks
- Conduct regular inspections of outdoor spaces to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Assist with the installation of new landscaping features and ongoing grounds improvements
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening or horticulture with a strong understanding of plant care and groundskeeping practices
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain power tools, irrigation systems, and small machinery
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and spades
- Experience operating construction machinery like excavators is highly desirable
- Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and repair techniques
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Construction experience or background in outdoor project work is a plus
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to safety and quality standards
