Job Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the aesthetic appeal and functionality of outdoor spaces. This position involves a variety of tasks related to landscape maintenance, including building, maintaining, and irrigating gardens and grounds. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and be skilled in the use of both hand and power tools to effectively carry out their duties.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain various landscape features, including flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
• Irrigate gardens and lawns to ensure optimal growth and health of plants.
• Perform general groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, trimming, and edging.
• Utilise power tools and hand tools for efficient maintenance of outdoor areas.
• Dig and prepare soil for planting new vegetation or landscaping projects.
• Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs or potential issues.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored after use.

Skills

• Proficient in landscape maintenance techniques and practices.
• Strong mechanical knowledge related to the operation of gardening equipment.
• Experience with power tools such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining grounds.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labour tasks over extended periods.
• A passion for gardening and the outdoors is highly desirable.
