Who is Newcastle Racecourse?

Located within High Gosforth Park, Newcastle Racecourse is home to the historic Northumberland Plate, and is one of Britain’s busiest racecourses, hosting over 60 all-weather and jumps fixtures a year. An ideal venue for all occasions, the racecourse can host events of all kinds, including conferences, exhibitions, weddings, private parties and more. The racecourse shares High Gosforth Park with the Border Minstrel Pub and Parklands Golf Club.

About the role:

The role involves maintaining a golf course to a high standard, preparing it for daily play, operating machinery safely, carrying out turf care and repairs, and working as part of a team to ensure the course remains in excellent condition.

Responsibilities for the successful Greenkeeper include (but not limited to):

• Maintain and improve the golf course, including greens, fairways, tees, roughs and surrounding areas
• Carry out turf maintenance
• Repair divots and carry out general course repairs
• Prepare the course for daily play by marking hazards and boundaries, moving tee markers, maintaining bunkers, changing holes and looking after signage and course furniture
• Maintain the driving range, including mowing and presentation
• Keep accurate records of work completed and course conditions to support future planning and improvements
• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and BHAGI regulations
• Work effectively with colleagues, follow instructions from the Head Greenkeeper and maintain high standards of teamwork and professionalism
