Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Digger Driver/Groundsman to join our dynamic construction team. This vital role combines skilled operation of heavy machinery with grounds maintenance responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality site development. As a key team member, you will be instrumental in excavating, moving materials, and maintaining the overall safety and cleanliness of the work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while honing your technical skills in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

  • Operate excavators and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently to perform digging, trenching, lifting, and material movement tasks
  • Maintain and inspect machinery regularly to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
  • Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris and leveling ground surfaces
  • Support the groundskeeping team by maintaining site cleanliness, removing waste, and managing site access points
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to prevent accidents or injuries on site
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and project timelines
  • Conduct routine checks of equipment and report any mechanical issues promptly for repairs

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery
  • Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Prior experience as a groundsman or in construction site maintenance is preferred
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and compliance with OSHA standards
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
