Basedd in Central Scotland, Plean Precast serves the whole of the UK market with a product range that encompasses dry & wet cast stone, architectural precast and cladding, and hard landscaping.

Purpose of the Role:
The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the company’s fleet of HGV vehicles, mobile/static plant, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards. The goal is to maximize asset availability and support the company in meeting its production targets efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Plant and Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance on HGV vehicles and mobile/static plant according to the company’s maintenance schedule.
  • Inspect and maintain the company’s fleet of HGV vehicles in compliance with DVSA standards and the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.
  • Address reported defects promptly and ensure all repairs are certified.
  • Respond rapidly and effectively to all breakdowns within the company.

2. Documentation and Compliance:

  • Complete all inspection and maintenance records for each task performed.
  • Ensure statutory inspections and maintenance of static plant are performed according to O&M Manuals and site maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant regulations.

3. Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Follow best-practice safety procedures for all maintenance activities, adhering to the company’s SOPs as a minimum standard.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area applying 5S principles at all times.
  • Achieve daily operational targets and report any issues or delays to the Maintenance Supervisor.

4. General Duties:

  • Carry out minor plumbing and electrical repairs as required.
  • Undertake additional tasks as needed to support the maintenance team and the overall operation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Essential:
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety regulations, including LOLER and PUWER.
  • Experience with basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance standards.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Relevant maintenance qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in various conditions.
  • Desirable:
  • Additional certifications in specific maintenance areas (e.g., electrical or hydraulic systems).
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
