Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior Arborist/Team Leader to join a small arboriculture company based in Bromley , you will be responsible for leading a small team of professionals who care and maintain trees and shrubs in various landscapes across Bromley and the South East. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Arboriculture, primary focused on street tree maintenance, demonstrating proficiency in managing small teams and working on Council or Commercial contracts.. This role requires a blend of managerial knowledge and practical skills to ensure the health and aesthetics of our green spaces.
Responsibilities
- Perform tree pruning, trimming, and removal as necessary to maintain tree health and safety.
- Assess tree condition and provide recommendations for care, including irrigation and fertilisation.
- A high level of experience in carrying out all aspects of tree care operations to industry and statutory standards;
- Experience in leading and supervising the work of a dedicated small team carrying out arboricultural operations across a range of sites;
- Knowledge and experience in the implementation of high standards of safety practices.
- An interest in the upskilling of our trainee arborists and Grounds Persons, and a passion for the industry;
- An understanding and consistent application of the Company’s Value Markers, our ‘Standards’, in how we set out to achieve our mission.
Qualifications
- A climber with at least 8 years’ experience in all areas of arboriculture in the public, commercial and domestic sectors.
- Experience of driving a large vehicle (up to 3.5 tonnes) and towing plant trailers with relevant arboriculture machinery (wood chippers, M.E.W.Ps, hiab, stump grinders, excavators).
- Experience in veteran tree management and working with large/monolithic trees.
- Experience managing teams.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work, on the ground, at height within the crown of the tree or from hydraulic platforms.
- Ability to use, maintain and direct the use of appropriate plant, equipment and machinery i.e. chainsaws, wood chippers and stump grinding equipment, in a safe and competent manner.
- Good knowledge of current arboricultural practices, relevant legislation, safety management and maintenance techniques including codes of practice and guidelines.
- Skills to work with the Company Director to increase the number of arborist teams operating in and around the South East.
