Landscaping Operative
Job details
Full job description
Soft Landscaping Operative
Protea Landscaping Ltd Pay: £13.00–£14.50 per hour, depending on experience.
Hours: 3–5 days per week, depending on workload
Typical working hours: 8:00am–4:30pm
Job type: Temporary initially, with potential for ongoing employment
About the role:
Protea Landscaping Ltd is a small and growing landscaping company looking for a reliable and hardworking person to join us and assist with our current workload.
The majority of the role will involve soft landscaping on new-build developments, working outdoors and carrying out a variety of landscaping tasks. There may occasionally be some hard landscaping work, although this will only form a small part of the role.
We currently have a busy workload with a significant amount of planting and landscaping work coming up over the autumn and winter, so we are looking for someone who is physically fit, enjoys working outdoors and is capable of putting in a good day’s work.
Typical duties will include:
- Ground preparation for turfing and planting
- Laying turf
- Planting hedges and bare-root plants
- Tree planting and staking
- Shrub and general planting
- Preparing planting beds
- Mulching and finishing works
- General site landscaping and maintenance
- Moving soil, turf, plants and landscaping materials
- Keeping work areas clean and tidy
- Occasional assistance with hard landscaping works
Previous landscaping experience would be beneficial, but a good attitude, reliability and willingness to work are equally important.
Essential requirements:
A valid CSCS card is essential for this position. Applicants without a valid CSCS card will not be able to work on site and therefore cannot be considered for the role.
Applicants must also have a full UK driving licence and be able to reliably attend site each working day.
You should also be:
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual outdoor work throughout the day
- Reliable and punctual
- Hardworking and able to maintain a good pace
- Willing to learn and follow instructions
- Comfortable working outdoors in typical Scottish weather conditions
- Able to work well as part of a small team
- Able to take pride in the quality and finish of your work
Hours:
Our normal working day is 8:00am to 4:30pm.
This consists of an 8-hour working shift with a 15-minute morning break at approximately 10:00am and a 30-minute lunch break.
The position will generally be 3–5 days per week, depending on workload. There is currently a good amount of work available, with further landscaping and planting works scheduled throughout the winter.
Pay:
Starting pay will generally be around £13.00 per hour, with rates up to approximately £14.50 per hour depending on experience, ability and performance.
For the right person, there will be opportunities for the hourly rate to increase as you demonstrate your ability, reliability and value to the company.
PPE:
General PPE required for the work will be provided where necessary.
Opportunity to grow
The position will initially be offered on a temporary basis while we assess how you perform and fit within the company.
Protea Landscaping Ltd is currently a very small company, which means the right person has a genuine opportunity to come in at an early stage and grow with the business.
If you prove to be reliable, hardworking and capable, there is potential for the role to develop into a longer-term position with increased responsibility as the company continues to grow.
We’re not necessarily looking for someone who knows everything from day one. We’re looking for someone who turns up, works hard, is willing to learn and takes pride in doing a good job.
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
Benefits:
- On-site parking
Licence/Certification:
- CSCS card (required)
Work Location: In person
