Full job description

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Site Operative / Weighbridge Operator to join our team at a golf course restoration site in Sunderland.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving general site maintenance, keeping roads and working areas clean, maintaining the wheel wash and assisting the Site Manager with the day-to-day running of the site. You will also be responsible for operating the weighbridge and keeping accurate records of incoming and outgoing loads.

We are looking for someone practical who takes pride in their work, is happy to get stuck in and can turn their hand to a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out general site maintenance and housekeeping to keep the site clean, tidy and safe.
  • Sweeping and cleaning site access roads to remove mud and debris.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the wheel wash to ensure it remains clean and operational.
  • Assisting the Site Manager with daily site operations and other duties as required.
  • Supporting the safe movement of vehicles around the site.
  • Operating the weighbridge and recording incoming and outgoing loads.
  • Completing weighbridge tickets, maintaining accurate load records and handling associated paperwork.
  • Scanning and uploading documents and preparing daily load summaries.
  • Reporting any site maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns.
  • Following site health and safety procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • A practical, hands-on attitude and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Reliability, a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Good awareness of site safety and the importance of maintaining a clean, organised working environment.
  • Basic computer skills for weighbridge records and paperwork.
  • Good communication skills when dealing with drivers, site staff and management.

Previous experience operating plant or machinery would be a major advantage, as plant will be operating on site. Experience in groundworks, construction, landscaping, waste management or similar site environments would also be beneficial.

The Role

This is not a purely office-based position. The successful candidate will be expected to get involved in the practical day-to-day running of the site, helping to keep it clean, safe and operational while carrying out weighbridge duties as required.
