Greenkeeper – Minto Golf Club
Join our team and help keep Minto looking its best!
Minto Golf Club is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Greenkeeper to join our team and help maintain and improve our course for members, visitors and guests to enjoy.
We’re a friendly, local golf club in the Scottish Borders, proud of our course and the community around it. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being outdoors and understands the important role the greenkeeping team plays in creating an enjoyable golfing experience.
Whether you’re looking to start a career in greenkeeping, build on your existing experience or bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to a new opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
Working as part of our greenkeeping team, you’ll play an important part in the day-to-day maintenance and preparation of the course, helping ensure it is well presented and ready for play throughout the year.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out general golf course maintenance and turf care.
* Operating and maintaining groundcare machinery safely and effectively.
* Preparing the course for play, including setting tee markers, maintaining bunkers and golf furniture, and marking hazards and areas of ground under repair (GUR).
* Helping maintain greens, tees, fairways and other areas of the course.
* Supporting seasonal maintenance programmes and planned daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
* Working with the greenkeeping team to maintain and improve the course throughout the year.
* Following club policies and health and safety procedures.
* Maintaining a friendly and professional approach when dealing with members, visitors and guests.
* Taking on responsibilities appropriate to your experience, skills and level of training.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from applicants at all stages of their greenkeeping careers. You might be an experienced greenkeeper looking for a new challenge, someone with practical grounds maintenance or horticultural experience, or someone keen to get started in the industry.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who has:
* A positive attitude and pride in their work.
* An interest in golf course maintenance, turf care and working outdoors.
* Good communication skills and a helpful, professional approach.
* The ability to work well as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
* A willingness to learn, develop and contribute ideas.
* An awareness of health and safety and the importance of working safely.
* The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Knowledge of golf course layouts, turf maintenance and groundcare machinery would be beneficial, as would relevant qualifications and previous greenkeeping experience. However, these are not essential for the right applicant.
We welcome applications from both developing and experienced greenkeepers. For someone earlier in their career, this could be an opportunity to learn and develop their skills. For an experienced candidate, it’s a chance to bring their knowledge, experience and ideas to a friendly local club and play an important role in the ongoing maintenance and development of the course.
The level of responsibility and opportunities for development will reflect the successful applicant’s experience, skills and qualifications.
The Position
* Hours: Full-time, with working hours varying seasonally to meet the needs of the course.
* Working pattern: Early starts during the summer season, with weekend work required.
* Salary: Competitive, depending on experience, skills and qualifications.
* Closing date: To be confirmed.
Why Join Minto Golf Club?
This is an opportunity to become part of a friendly local club where your work makes a real difference to the course and the experience of everyone who plays here.
We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the team, takes pride in doing a job well and shares our ambition to maintain and improve the course for the benefit of members and visitors alike.
Whatever stage you’re at in your career, if you enjoy outdoor work and want to make a positive contribution to a local golf club, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Interested?
If you think this could be the right opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you.
