Assistant Gardener

Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £12.08/hr
Hours: Full-time
Location: South Lakes, Cumbria

We are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Gardener on behalf of a client located in the heart of the beautiful English Lake District.

We’re looking for someone with a love for the outdoors and the successful candidate MUST have a valid drivers licence.

The role

​Working as part of a small team to assist in the maintenance and development of the gardens, ensuring they remain beautiful and well-kept throughout the year. There are a number of gardens on the estate as well as a wider group of properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in planting, watering, and pruning flowers, shrubs, and trees
  • Maintaining garden beds by weeding, mulching, and fertilizing as needed
  • Performing regular inspections to identify and address pest or disease issues promptly
  • Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools safely
  • Assisting in designing and implementing garden layouts and landscape plans
  • Collaborate with the head gardener and other team members to execute gardening projects efficiently
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the garden area
  • Providing excellent customer service when interacting with visitors or clients.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in gardening or landscaping preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of plants, flowers, and gardening techniques
  • Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for horticulture
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges
