Location: London and the South East, predominantly Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Oxfordshire.

At Garden Lighting Solutions, we specialise in creating beautiful outdoor spaces through professionally designed garden lighting and intelligent irrigation systems.

We’re a small, friendly and ambitious team working in some of the finest private gardens across London and the South East.

We’re now looking for an experienced gardener or horticultural professional to join us as our fourth team member.

We’re not looking for an electrician or a traditional construction groundworker. We’re looking for someone who understands gardens, enjoys working outdoors and takes genuine pride in doing things properly.

Someone who appreciates that working in a client’s garden is a privilege, who treats every property with care and who understands the importance of leaving everything looking immaculate.

What will you be doing?

Your main responsibility will be the careful installation of garden lighting and irrigation infrastructure within established private gardens.

This includes:

• Preparing gardens for lighting and irrigation installations.
• Carefully excavating trenches for underground cables and irrigation pipework.
• Lifting and reinstating lawns, turf, borders and planting.
• Protecting established trees, shrubs, roots and garden features.
• Installing underground cabling, conduits and irrigation pipework.
• Assisting our technical team with positioning lighting fittings and irrigation equipment.
• Ensuring gardens are left clean, tidy and beautifully reinstated.
• Carrying out professional gardening, lawn mowing, edging, pruning and general garden maintenance when required.
• Looking after tools, equipment and your work vehicle.
• Building positive, professional relationships with our clients.
• Flexible where needed, driving, deliveries and general roles from time to time.

Our specialist technical team handles electrical connections, system configuration and commissioning. We’ll provide training in the installation techniques and equipment we use.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, you’ll already have experience working in professional gardening, horticulture, estate gardening or high-quality domestic landscaping.

You’ll understand plants, lawns and established gardens and know how to work carefully around them.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:

• Takes genuine pride in the quality of their work.
• Is reliable, trustworthy and well organised.
• Is friendly, polite and comfortable speaking with homeowners.
• Has a good understanding of gardening and horticulture.
• Enjoys practical outdoor work and solving problems.
• Keeps tools, vehicles and working areas clean and organised.
• Can work independently and use their own initiative.
• Is willing to learn new skills and take on responsibility.
• Holds a full UK driving licence.
• Wants to develop a long-term career with a growing company.

You don’t need formal academic qualifications or previous garden lighting experience.

Your practical skills, personality, reliability and pride in your work are far more important to us.

A four-day working week – because life matters too!!

• £34k - £41k annual salary
• Four-day working week, typically Monday to Thursday.
• 36 paid hours per week, including agreed travelling time.

Our normal working arrangements allow nine paid hours per day, including agreed travel.

Because we work at different properties, the time spent on site will vary. Some days may involve six or seven hours in a garden, while others may involve eight.
