Remedial & Site Support Technician

Swimming Ponds & Landscapes

UK-wide travel | Full-time | Weekdays | Company vehicle provided

You spend most of your life at work.

This could be your opportunity to make that time genuinely enjoyable.

To be part of something meaningful.

Something with purpose.

Ponds by Michael Wheat is an award-winning swimming pond and lake specialist, now gaining international attention for our ground-breaking approach to natural swimming systems.

Yes, that could mean installing a project somewhere warm in December.

But more importantly, it means being part of a company that actually cares about you.

Not just a number.

Not someone who isn’t listened to.

Not someone who’s just expected to “get on with it”.

So read this ad properly. It’s long, on purpose.

Why this ad is different

This is one of the longest job ads you’ll ever read.

We do that deliberately.

Because we’re not looking for someone who just wants a job.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of something special.

If this ad resonates with you, this could be a genuinely life-changing opportunity.

Why did you click this ad? Probably for one of these reasons.

You want to leave your current job because:

  • Your work doesn’t give you any real purpose
  • You’re not paid what you believe you’re worth
  • You don’t feel valued or listened to
  • There’s no progression or personal development
  • What once felt like a career now just feels like a job

Or maybe you’re self-employed and realising that:

  • Choosing your own hours really means working all of them
  • Sorting your own tax is a constant headache
  • You weren’t protected during Covid
  • Winter work is stressful and unpredictable
  • You’re forever chasing the next payment
  • Working alone is lonely and draining
  • Running your own business has become a nightmare

Or maybe you’ve been let go by a company that didn’t understand you, because of:

  • Unrealistic expectations
  • Not being given a voice
  • Never feeling heard

If any of that sounds familiar, keep reading.

We are not a typical construction company, and we are not a typical employer. We do things differently.

Because our single biggest company goal is this:

“To be the best company to work for. Period. Not just the best pond company.”

Ambitious? Absolutely.

But it’s not just words. Here’s our vision:

  • To create a genuine community
  • To be a centre of excellence for culture and teamwork
  • To be known as a training organisation, not just installers
  • A happier, loyal, well supported team
  • A team that isn’t overworked (there is more to life than work)
  • A company that invests in its people
  • A team that lives the company values because the owner does

Please don’t apply… unless you mean it

It’s pointless applying unless you’re committed to the following:

  • You’re happy to work away most days Monday–Friday
  • We provide a weekly living allowance, paid directly to you
  • Accommodation is always provided and you always have your own room
  • You’re committed to the company vision and our 12 core values
  • You want long term job security
  • You have solid experience in hard landscaping
  • You want to work for a company that genuinely cares about your mental health and family
  • You’re a good communicator, enjoy travelling, and take pride in your work
  • You want transparency, KPIs, and a company that shows you how to improve and earn more

We give a lot.

But we expect a lot in return.

What else do we look for? A great attitude goes a long way.

You’ll be:

  • Hard-working, reliable and trustworthy
  • Adaptable to change
  • Motivated, and able to motivate others
  • Organised with good communication skills
  • Professional with excellent customer service

What you’ll be doing

This is a varied role, some examples of the tasks that you may be doing are:

  • Remedial works on existing swimming ponds and systems
  • Pond maintenance, cleaning and aftercare visits
  • Digging trenches and rerouting pipework
  • Planting and soft landscaping
  • Small hard landscaping works such as brickwork, decking and paving
  • Assisting on high end swimming pond builds when required
  • Representing the company professionally on site
  • Taking site photos and completing simple digital job reports

Some days you’ll work independently. Other days you’ll be part of a team.

What you get in return

For the right people, the benefits are significant:

  • Company vehicle (fuel and travel time paid)
  • Paid from the moment you leave home until you return
  • Guaranteed, year-round work
  • 28 days paid holiday
  • Living allowance when working away
  • Pension scheme
  • Private medical cover after probation
  • Tailored training and personal development plan
  • Clear progression opportunities
  • A supportive, positive and ambitious working environment

Pay & security

We employ all our team. This is not subcontract work.

  • Starting pay from £34,944 per year based on a typical 48-hour week
  • Travel time included in working hours
  • Opportunity to work additional hours
  • After 3 months, probation ends and pay and progression are reviewed
  • Full, on-the-books employment

You must have

  • A full UK driving licence (non-negotiable)

If you’re still reading…

And you fit the criteria…

And you haven’t applied yet…

Ask yourself why.

This is an exciting opportunity to join and help grow one of the UK’s leading swimming pond companies, while being genuinely supported as a person, not just a worker.

Please apply with your CV.
