Multi-Trade Building Labourer

CM Building Services Ltd

Location: Portsmouth & surrounding areas
Pay: Minimum applicable UK National Minimum Wage, depending on age, with opportunities to develop and increase earnings
Hours: Flexible, regular work available — hours will vary depending on projects.

About the Role

CM Building Services Ltd is looking for a reliable, hardworking and motivated Building Labourer to work alongside an experienced multi-trade builder on a variety of domestic building and renovation projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job properly and wants to develop their building skills through hands-on experience.

Previous building or labouring experience is advantageous, but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important as experience. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates well and can be trusted to turn up on time and get stuck in.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside the main builder, your duties will include:

· Assisting with plumbing, plastering, tiling and carpentry.

· Supporting kitchen and bathroom installations.

· Assisting with flooring and floor fitting.

· Carrying out demolition and site preparation work.

· Helping with landscaping and other general building tasks.

· Moving and handling materials, tools and equipment safely.

· Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised.

· Preparing tools and materials for upcoming jobs.

· Following instructions while learning new skills and techniques.

· Taking initiative and looking for ways to support the team.

The role will involve a variety of tasks, so flexibility and a positive, can-do attitude are essential.

What We’re Looking For

The right person will be:

· Reliable and punctual — someone who turns up when agreed and can be counted on.

· Keen to learn — interested in developing practical skills across multiple building trades.

· Proactive — able to use their initiative, think ahead and see what needs doing.

· Organised — takes care of tools, materials and the working environment.

· A good communicator — asks questions when unsure and keeps the builder informed.

· Hardworking and practical — happy to get involved in physical work and varied tasks.

· Positive and professional — takes pride in their work and works well with others.

· Safety-conscious — follows instructions and uses tools and equipment responsibly.

Previous labouring, construction or DIY experience is beneficial. Experience with tools and an interest in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering or tiling would be an advantage, but a strong attitude and willingness to develop are essential.

A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.

What We Offer

· Regular opportunities to work on a variety of building and renovation projects.

· Hands-on experience alongside an experienced multi-trade builder.

· The opportunity to learn and develop skills across several trades.

· Pay starting at the applicable UK National Minimum Wage.

· Opportunities for increased responsibility, skill development and higher pay as your experience grows.

· A flexible working arrangement, with hours agreed around project requirements.

We want to find someone who is interested in building a long-term working relationship and growing their skills, rather than simply looking for occasional labouring work.

How to Apply

If you are reliable, motivated, willing to learn and take pride in a job well done, we would love to hear from you.

Please apply with a brief introduction outlining any relevant experience, the skills you have, your availability and why you think you would be a good fit for CM Building Services Ltd.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
