About the Role
Bolton College is seeking a knowledgeable Science Lecturer with a specialism in Biology to teach across BTEC Applied Science programmes at Levels 1-3. There may also be opportunities to contribute to Access to Higher Education (Open Awards) programmes.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging learning experiences that help students develop scientific understanding, practical laboratory skills and confidence in their studies. The role involves working with both 16-18 learners and adult students, helping them progress towards further study or employment.
Key Duties
- Prepare and deliver lessons across BTEC Applied Science Levels 1-3
- Teach Biology-related topics including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, physiology and laboratory science
- Contribute to Access to Higher Education (Open Awards) programmes where required
- Deliver practical laboratory activities while maintaining health and safety standards
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback
- Create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and achievement
- Assist students with assessments and examination preparation
- Work with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
Requirements
- Degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Applied Science or a related subject
- Recognised teaching qualification at Level 3 or above
- Experience teaching BTEC Science at Levels 1-3
- Experience delivering Access to Higher Education programmes is desirable
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology and related scientific disciplines
- Ability to communicate information clearly to a range of learners
- Effective organisation and planning skills
- Commitment to promoting student achievement and progression
