We now seek an experienced and dynamic Full-time Lecturer to join our team at the University of Wolverhampton International Study Centre. This role is pivotal in supporting our Pathway Division through a period of significant change and expansion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in Business, ensuring that our diverse body of international students achieves outstanding academic outcomes and is fully supported in their learning journey.

The ideal candidate will promote best practices in all aspects of their work, and be sympathetic to our students; they will take decisions and accept responsibility, have a willingness to learn and adapt, and most importantly have a positive attitude which will underpin the delivery and further growth of our programmes at our centre at the University of Wolverhampton.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Business seminars as part of our foundation, international year one and pre-masters programs.
  • Continuously update and tailor teaching content and methods to meet the diverse needs of international students.
  • Implement innovative classroom techniques to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Mark and moderate students’ summative work and assist lecturers with formative assessment when necessary.

Student Support and Guidance:

  • Act as a personal tutor to assigned students, offering guidance and support for academic and personal development.
  • Work with lecturers, program leaders and the Group Academic Director to identify individual students that need further support and tailor a support plan for these students.
  • Work closely with Student Services to ensure a high standard of pastoral care and support student welfare.

Academic Leadership:

  • Serve as a module leader, responsible for the curriculum development and continuous improvement of the Business modules tailoring it to the cohort and programme level.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to align the study skills curriculum with broader academic goals and student needs.

Key Relationships

  • Report to the Head of Learning & Teaching on all aspects of the role, in particular in the progress monitoring reporting of individual students’ engagement and achievement throughout the semester.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • MBA or Master’s with significant experience in a relevant subject area
  • Proven experience in teaching and assessing international students at undergraduate level
  • An ability to work autonomously
  • Patience, commitment and sensitivity to the needs of international pathway students
  • Excellent organisational, planning, collaboration and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach, with experience working across departments or institutions
  • High proficiency in using technology to support teaching, learning, assessment and feedback
  • An ability to meet conflicting deadlines
  • A student-focused approach to teaching and learning
  • A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
