This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity to help improve driver behaviour and reduce the number of serious and fatal collisions across North Yorkshire’s 6,000 mile road network.
As a Safety Camera Officer, you will travel to designated enforcement locations to carry out speed limit and road traffic offence enforcement activities using specialist equipment and fully converted enforcement vehicles. In this role you will:

- Load, transport and unload safety camera enforcement equipment
- Operate specialist camera technology to detect and record offences
- Review offences captured through enforcement activity
- Prepare accurate court files and provide evidence in court when required
- Ensure the secure storage, retention and disposal of safety camera media and exhibits
- Maintain accurate records and comply with relevant legislation and procedures
- Support wider road safety and traffic enforcement objectives
Please note that this role requires a commitment to a rotating shift pattern which varies seasonally:

- Early Shift: 06:00 – 15:00
- Late Shift: 14:00 – 22:00
Winter Shifts
- Early Shift: 07:00 – 16:00
- Late Shift: 12:00 – 20:00
Flexibility is essential as you may be required to work across these shifts depending on operational needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent numerical and literacy skills
- Confidence using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team
- Physical capability to lift and handle equipment at waist and shoulder height
- A professional and confident approach when engaging with members of the public
- Full UK manual driving licence essential
- Full motorcycle licence desirable but not essential
