Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Level 3 (Send) at Big Creative Academy

Please note this is a September start

  • Salary: £8 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am - 17.00pm (1 hour lunch Break) Wednesday and Friday 9am - 14.00 - 30 minutes lunch break.
  • Hours: 30 hours per week

Main duties

  • To work under the guidance/instruction of Special Educational Needs Coordinator to undertake
  • work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for students and become independent learners.
  • You will provide support for their studies and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of Academy life.
  • You will support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to ensure their understanding of the curriculum.
  • To keep track of all students with EHCP’s attendance and progress and to maintain appropriate records
  • To collate and prepare students information for assessments and inspections

  • Experience working with young people between 16 and 23
  • Experience working with young people with additional needs
  • An interest in creative arts and sports
  • Actively promote equality and anti-racism at all times
  • Understand and appreciate the Academy's values and ethos
  • To comply with and promote the Academy’s safeguarding policies

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include:

  • Work under the direction of the SENCo to deliver tailored support and care programmes, ensuring students can fully engage in learning
  • Encourage independence and inclusion, supporting students across all aspects of Academy life
  • Provide targeted support on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to help students build confidence and understanding of the curriculum
  • Monitor attendance, progress, and outcomes for students with EHCPs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Prepare and collate information to support assessments, reviews, and inspections

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE English (Grade 4 - 9 or equivalent) essential
  • GCSE Maths (Grade 4 - 9 or equivalent) essential

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.

Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
