Production Design Manager - Peppermint Bars and Events, London | Full time / 6-month fixed term contract

£50,000 pro rata + excellent benefits including hybrid working, 28 days annual leave + your birthday off, healthcare, festival and sport event tickets, and more!

We're looking for a creative and commercially minded Production Design Manager to support the dynamic team at Peppermint Bars and Events - the leading team behind exceptional experiences at some of the UK’s most high-profile festivals, events, and venues (including BST Hyde Park, Camp Bestival, Mighty Hoopla, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, All Points East, Lytham, and Rewind Festivals!)

In this brand-new role you will play an integral role in winning new business by ensuring every bid displays cutting-edge production that is fully costed and considered. We're looking for innovative Production Design specialists with events experience across the festival, live event or entertainment space, including immersive events with complex builds and production requirements.

Initially offered as a 6-month contract with the ambition to become a permanent position.

Production Design Manager - The role

  • Pitching: Turn briefs into compelling, pitch-ready creative concepts and decks.
  • Feasibility: Build production, installation, budget, timeline and VE thinking into pitches.
  • Costing: Scope requirements and deliver accurate, commercially sound budgets.
  • Technical Design: Translate concepts into build-ready drawings, specs and technical packs.
  • Suppliers: Procure materials, fabrication, print and equipment; manage samples and pre-builds.
  • Venue Integration: Lead surveys and integrate access, services, logistics and operational needs.
  • Brand Assets: Manage artwork, signage, menus, print specifications and approvals.
  • Compliance & Quality: Support RAMS/certification and ensure safe, high-quality installations.
  • Sustainability: Prioritise reusable, modular solutions and responsible asset management.
  • Handover & Improvement: Deliver handover packs, lead debriefs and drive future improvements.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working in a relevant event sector, in a creative/operations/production/site management/event management role. Bars/hospitality/festival preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in a client facing role, ideally translating their vision into practical delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of temporary builds: marquees/structures, bar units, FOH/BOH layouts, power, water/drainage, refrigeration, and POS/data integration.
  • Proven budget ownership: supplier scoping and negotiation, POs, cost tracking and reconciliation.
  • Practical understanding of design, materials/finishes and build techniques; confident specifying fixings and venue protection.
  • Solid grasp of health & safety and event compliance (RAMS/CDM basics) and how they shape designs and install methods.
  • People leadership: briefing and leading crews/contractors; clear stakeholder coordination (clients, promoters, venues, authorities).
  • Excellent organisational/project management skills, demonstrating an understanding of how product designs translate into practical builds (e.g. scheduling, load/delivery planning).
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel trackers, PowerPoint decks) and scheduling tools; working CAD literacy (AutoCAD/Vectorworks/SketchUp) or fast upskilling.
  • Experience working with Adobe InDesign & 3D Render.

What you’ll get in return:

  • Medicash - dental care, optical treatments, physiotherapy etc
  • Employee assistance programme - counselling and support
  • Discounts on shopping, travel, entertainment and dining
  • Birthday day off
  • Hybrid and remote working options
  • Quarterly team socials
  • Apprenticeship programmes available
  • Festival and sport event tickets/drink tokens
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity leave
