Could you inspire more people to cycle?

Outspoken Training are recruiting enthusiastic individuals to deliver fun, inspirational, and rewarding Bikeability cycle training courses in local primary schools.

About Outspoken Training:

Outspoken Training aims to enthuse people to cycle by equipping them with the skills and confidence to ride more.

We offer innovative, life-changing and fun cycle training along with instructor qualifications, to inspire more people to build cycling into their everyday lives.

What we need:

Thanks to continued growth and the popularity of our training, we are looking for additional staff who will thrive in offering a variety of cycling courses. These will range from playground-based balance bike, learn to ride and bike handling training through to on-road residential and urban training as well as led rides.

Applicants will need to be regularly available for 4 (Monday to Thursday) or 5 days (Monday to Friday) in school term time with the flexibility to work variable hours per day between 9.00am and 3.15pm

You will enjoy cycling either for leisure and/or a form of transport and be keen to pass this on to children in a range of year groups.

Who we are looking for:

All our staff must show a passion for cycling and be dedicated towards enabling pupils to gain the skills and confidence to cycle independently. To achieve this, applicants must:

- be able to work effectively in small teams

- maintain high standards of professional practice and quality of instructing

- have a positive, can-do attitude to enable all pupils to progress in sessions

- have a passion for teaching/coaching/instructing children

- have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively

- be fit and healthy enough to work outdoors and be on your feet for each day

- track and record pupils’ progress in courses

What we can offer:

You will have the opportunity to work alongside a small, enthusiastic local team who share your passion for inspiring the next generation of cyclists. Seeing the pupils progress and gain confidence throughout courses is immensely enjoyable and rewarding.

As a Living Wage employer, instructors are employed on variable hours contracts with holiday pay and the option of a company pension. Hours are agreed in advance giving individuals the flexibility to work around other work commitments, the school run, studying and/or retirement projects. We also contribute towards travel costs.

We provide a fully funded, Ofqual accredited, Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training qualification and NSPCC safeguarding training. We also heavily subsidise First Aid training. This is supported by free annual continuing professional development (CPD) training which we pay employees for attending.

All staff are eligible for our employee benefits scheme which includes savings on everyday shopping including supermarket discounts and fuel as well as a wellbeing programme.

If you have additional availability (not essential), once fully qualified, additional work is also available on weekends and during school holidays.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- Plan fun, exciting and progressive sessions.

- Work in pairs to deliver energetic, fast paced, and progressive sessions.

- Maximise riding time and opportunity for pupils to cycle.

- Ride with groups of pupils between sites.

- Work outdoors in a variety of off and on-road environments.

- Look after the welfare and safeguarding of all pupils.

- Reflect on own performance to continuously adapt and improve practice.

- Complete course paperwork, including checking registers, checking consent forms, course outcomes, etc.
