Job description

Position: Progression Coach

Employment Type: Temporary until 1st May 2025 with a significant chance of extension

Salary: £28,960

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Greater Manchester: Bury, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford

Closing Date: 00.00 (midnight) 13 December 2024

As a Pathfinder progression coach, you would have the opportunity to play an integral part in preventing youth homelessness and bettering the lives of those we work with. We want to ensure that individuals are successful in maintaining and securing, where needed a safe secure place to live, allowing them to progress in their lives. Activities you will carry out in this role.


  • Supporting young people in the community, holding a case load of your own.
  • Ensuring great support and communication is there to help our participants engage with the project
  • Working to KPIs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preventing and dealing with crisis situations, in the community.
  • Representing at partnership and internal meetings.
  • Quality checks and audits.
  • Ensuring trauma informed practices are central to daily delivery.
  • Administration duties
  • Partnership work to enhance service delivery.
  • Financial management
  • Supporting the wider Pathfinder team with group facilitation and 2-1 support, when needed.
  • De-escalating incidents and managing safeguarding concerns.

-1-2-1 case work and group facilitation to engage and motivate residents.

What you’ll need to be a success

Professional or personal experience (or demonstrated transferrable skills) that show the ability to work positively with disadvantaged and excluded groups (experience of supporting young people to achieve their own outcomes will be advantageous).

  • Knowledge of housing, welfare and homelessness systems/ legislation and an ability to work with housing landlords and agencies or appetite to learn quickly through training.
  • Ability to assess support needs and risk and make appropriate referrals as part of a plan towards positive change
  • Successful track record of working collaboratively and proactively with other services and organisations to prevent homelessness and to provide innovative, settled housing solutions
  • Understanding of the main causes of homelessness and the barriers that people face when trying to access accommodation and other services
  • Experience of managing a case load and understanding of GDPR
  • Experience of motivating diverse and complex client groups to achieve positive, sustained outcomes in relation to housing, health and meaningful activities

Activities you will carry out in this role:

  • Flash meetings to coordinate cases/ performance and weekly plan for place-based working within the community
  • Attend multi agency meetings and advocating on behalf of the individual
  • Assessing, support and risk planning via a coaching style
  • Partake in continuous professional development opportunities and assist the embedding of a trauma informed culture
  • Linking into agencies to help meet immediate support needs, enhance opportunities for clients as well as referral pathways.
  • Building relationships with landlords to enhance move-on options
  • Helping individuals move to their new home
  • Completing resettlement tasks to help them keep their home in good order and make it a success
  • Capturing accurate records and statistics and updating systems
  • Reviewing performance leading to continuous improvement
  • Provide assurance to the manager around day-to-day performance and represent the service at external and internal meetings.
  • Facilitating drop in’s and delivery of tenancy training packages
  • Participate with meetings, supervisions and other tasks as required.
