Full job description

Playball is a specialised foundation phase sport and movement programme, offering six different age appropriate year-long programmes for children between the ages of 2 and 6.

We are looking for a sporty, dynamic and hard working coach to join our team on a full time basis. This job will entail the following:

  • Teaching children life skills through sport with sports including tennis, hockey, football, rugby, basketball and many more
  • Building children's resilience and confidence with our progressive Playball curriculum
  • Going into schools to teach the Playball curriculum
  • Writing reports for each of the children you coach
  • Engaging with parents and providing feedback at the end of each session
  • DBS certificate - if you don't have one we can arrange this through Playball

Where is the job based?

As a Playball coach you will be based at Tower House School in East Sheen, London for Saturday classes.

What hours would I be working?

Normal hours on a Saturday morning are 9am to 11:15am. Three 45 minute class. Holiday Camp work also available.

When will I start?

Your official start date with your own classes will be Saturday 20th of September 2025. You will need to watch and shadow classes and attend training before your start date. Your training will start on Saturday 7th of June 2025. We will run Summer Holiday Camps over August which will help with your training and you will be paid for this.

What would we offer you?

  • Competitive salary

You will need to watch classes before your training starts(depending on experience will depend on how many classes you will need to watch). You will not be paid for watching the classes. The starting rate whilst training at Playball is £15 per class until you are ready to run your own classes, whereby your rate will increase to £20 for Saturday classes. As soon as you become more experienced there is the possibility of earning up to £30 per hour. If you already have experience there is a possibility on starting on a higher rate.

We will provide you with full training, uniform and all equipment. Head office requires that you attend compulsory workshops 2 times a year, typically run on a Saturday (dates provided well in advance)

  • Term time working and school holidays off (if desired)

Playball operates on a termly basis, with 3 terms a year. Our term time runs according to the school year. January-March, April-July and September- December. Please note that coaches are not permitted to take holidays during term time.

  • Holiday camps for additional money

During the half terms and holiday seasons we run holiday camps, which are usually from 9am-1:30pm.

For the 3 and a half hour camp your pay will start at £20 per hour.

Responsibilities:

- Lots of energy, in all classes, always.
- Make a child laugh and enjoy themselves as that is such a crucial part in foundation sport
- Plan lessons out and be organised for all your classes

- Effectively communicate with parents and venue personnel

- Collaborate with other coaches, trainers, and team staff to ensure a cohesive approach to training and development

Skills and Experience:

- Exceptional teamwork and communication skills

- Excellent English skills both oral and written

- Experience in developing and coaching children (experience in physical education or sports coaching is preferred but not mandatory)

- Driver's license and DBS

- Organizational skills and effective time management

- Ability to quickly build rapport with children

- A strong commitment and passion for children's development and empowerment- A sporting background does help

- Patience and lots of enthusiasm to work with young children of different skill levels and ages
