Our growth has been organic, driven by our expertise in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and our mission to improve the quality of healthcare and MSK management across the UK. Today, we have over 450 physiotherapists working across the UK.

As a National First Contact Physiotherapy (FCP) provider, we priorities quality and sustainable healthcare. Our team of over 450 First Contact Practitioners delivers 55,000 FCP interventions monthly.

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the Area Clinics Lead role is to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services within the designated area, driving excellence in patient care and quality, personal and professional clinician development, and service delivery and improvement. By supporting central clinics operations, managing team and clinical performance, and fostering a culture aligned with Pure’s values, the role supports the growth and success of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with strong organisational skills, a commitment to clinical excellence and quality, and the ability to inspire and develop a team. They should possess a keen eye for operational detail, a passion for quality improvement, and the drive to contribute to the strategic growth of the organisation.

How your role fits within our team:

As a senior member of the Regional Team, the Area Clinics Lead will report to the Head of Clinics and will have a dotted line to the Regional Lead. You will line manage a small team of Clinics Team Leads, where you will be responsible for supporting and guiding their leadership and clinical development and empowering them to drive the growth of those in their learning teams.

You will be a Senior MSK physiotherapist, demonstrating what best practice looks like in your everyday work. In addition to your normal duties and responsibilities of a physiotherapist, you will have the ambition to deliver high performance of all clinicians in your Area and to support clinicians in complex or serious case management; being knowledgeable and confident in Pure’s procedures and policies.

Core responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence and Quality

  • Acting as the clinical expert and role model for your Region; be available and confident to answer complex clinical questions and facilitate clinicians in their learning
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of clinic diaries, ensuring optimal utilisation, minimising gaps, managing diary blockers, and accommodating annual leave effectively.
  • Support the growth and development of clinics within your designated area, ensuring operational efficiency and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Take responsibility for the clinical quality and performance of your region by regularly evaluating clinical KPIs/metrics we introduce and identifying and implementing improvement strategies
  • Support your Ops and Performance Lead, and Regional Practice Managers in embedding excellence in diary management to increase optimal clinical outcomes

Team Development and Performance

  • You will lead, coach, and guide a group of Clinics Team Leads, to ensure we deliver the clinical strategy and guarantee high patient care standards are met.
  • Build individual performance plans for each Clinics Team Lead, using them as a working tool for their own leadership and clinical development
  • Ensure quality clinical mentoring/support is happening in your Region by following up with your team, being present, providing feedback and reporting to Head of Clinics on performance
  • You will take an active role in the development of the Team Leads leadership and mentoring capabilities and act as a role model for Pure’s Values.
  • Be accountable for the clinical performance and professional development of staff, fostering a high-performing and motivated team.
  • Develop and share resources for continued professional development opportunities in both clinical and leadership.
  • Address clinical performance issues and support in resolving complaints, ensuring a constructive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Responsible for working with HR & Recruitment on the recruitment, induction and onboarding process of new starters, ensuring they are well-equipped to succeed.
  • Interview and select new clinicians in consultation with Central Clinics team, to ensure the best candidates for the specific needs of the clinic are appointed
  • Along with the Regional Lead, devise a succession plan to build a pipeline within your region and for the wider business

Leading yourself and role modelling

  • Manage your own diary to ensure optimal personal performance, minimising unnecessary travel, and balance workload to meet goals and objectives.
  • Grow your leadership skills through formal and informal learning opportunities, continuing professional development, reflective practice, and 360 feedback.
  • Demonstrate a wide range of advanced and specialised communication skills including appropriate written communication and the ability to engage in critical dialogue with a range of audiences of different levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating excellence in report writing and record keeping on Pure’s case management system, and quality check your team is achieving expected results.
  • Keep up with best practice and ensure that our services are delivered in line with our high standards and achieving against the clinical strategy.

Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Facilitate clinical governance and uphold quality standards by collaborating with the Quality & Governance team, practice managers, and conducting regular audits of clinical notes.
  • Drive adherence to compliance and best practices across all clinic activities
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct and abide by the core standards of practice outlined by the HCPC and CSP.
  • Through your team leads, ensure that Physios/MSK Clinicians in your Region complete mandatory training modules on time and proactively promote the use of Thrive for learning and development
  • Manage clinical/service complaints in your Region in a timely and professional manner, providing clinicians with constructive feedback and support. Support your Team Leads in dealing with appropriate complaints.
  • Ensure you and your team comply with all legal, regulatory and governance requirements at all times.
  • Adhere to Pure procedures and policies regarding health & safety and clinic standards.

Clinic Maintenance and Delegation

  • Ensure the upkeep of clinic facilities, delegating responsibilities as necessary to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.

Cultural Leadership and Values Implementation

  • Support Pure’s culture of recognition and our commitment to high performing teams, by identifying clinicians who demonstrate excellence in their practice and provide them with opportunities within clinical expertise and leadership roles.
  • You will play a part in evolving the clinical development program, demonstrating innovative ideas and ways of working to grow the development and career opportunities for clinical staff throughout their career with Pure

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Sound understanding of leadership principles, managing resources and budgets, leading teams, and providing high standards of customer care.
  • Good computer literacy and IT skills, particularly working with Microsoft Office and bespoke systems.
  • Appreciation of ethical obligations in physiotherapy/healthcare, with a strong sense of professional integrity.
  • Experience of line management and development of a specialist team of practitioners.
  • Experience of implementing project plans, corporate goals/objectives, sustainability activities, etc.
  • Experience working in an environment of ongoing change.
  • Minimum of 4 years MSK experience
  • HCPC Registration.
  • BSc Physiotherapy/Pre-Reg MSc Physiotherapy

Desirable:

  • Project management and/or strategy development and implementation.
  • Theory and best practice in relation to developing positive culture and making organisational changes.
  • Advanced leadership skills.
  • Experience of working in private Physiotherapy clinics
  • Experience of managing/leading teams
  • Membership of CSP
  • Level 7 leadership qualification, applicable Clinical Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience.
  • CPD folder with evidence of leadership development.
