Experienced and Qualified - Skills Coach / Learning Coach / Assessor (Health & Social Care Apprenticeships)

£30,000 – £34,000 per annum + benefits
Permanent | Full Time | Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
West Midlands & surrounding areas | Field / Hybrid
3–4 days in the field | 1–2 days working from home

At The Training & Learning Company, we are looking for an experienced Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Assessor, Skills Coach or Learning Coach to support learners.

This is an experienced assessor role. You will already know how to manage a caseload, support learners in the workplace, work with employers and keep apprentices progressing towards timely achievement.

You will support Health & Social Care apprentices from Level 2 through to Level 5, combining workplace assessment with coaching, learner support and employer engagement.

This is not a trainee or newly qualified assessor position. Previous experience assessing Health & Social Care apprenticeships is essential.

You will spend three to four days each week in the field, delivering face-to-face coaching, assessment and progress reviews, with one to two days working from home for planning, administration and learner support.

You will normally travel within approximately a two-hour driving radius of your home.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering face-to-face coaching, assessments and progress reviews in the workplace
  • Supporting Health & Social Care apprentices from Level 2 to Level 5
  • Helping learners build strong evidence, develop their knowledge, skills and professional behaviours, and work towards timely achievement
  • Building strong relationships with employers, managers and workplace mentors
  • Managing your own diary, travel, caseload and learner progress
  • Maintaining accurate learner records while meeting quality, compliance and performance expectations

You will have ownership of your caseload and be trusted to manage it effectively while delivering a high-quality experience for learners and employers.

This is an experienced assessor vacancy, and we can only progress applicants who already meet the essential requirements.

You MUST HAVE:

  • An Assessor qualification, such as TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent
  • Proven experience assessing Health & Social Care apprenticeships
  • Experience managing your own apprenticeship learner caseload (approx. 50)
  • Experience supporting learners from Level 2 through to Level 5
  • Experience delivering face-to-face assessments in the workplace
  • A Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification, or previous experience as a Registered Manager
  • Strong occupational competence within Health & Social Care
  • Strong caseload management and organisational skills
  • Good IT, administration and communication skills
  • Confidence working with employers, managers and workplace mentors
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check

We cannot consider applicants looking to move into apprenticeship assessing for the first time or those without previous Health & Social Care apprenticeship assessing experience.

You are organised, reliable and comfortable managing your own caseload.

You build good relationships with learners and employers, communicate clearly and know when to support, motivate or challenge.

Above all, you care about learner progress and take pride in delivering a quality service.

What you will receive

  • £30,000 – £34,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
  • 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
  • Additional Christmas and New Year shutdown leave
  • 35-hour working week with a paid lunch hour
  • Competitive mileage allowance
  • Medicash health cash plan
  • Specsavers eyecare scheme
  • NUS / TOTUM discount card
  • Fully funded CPD and professional development
  • Clear career progression opportunities
  • Company pension scheme
  • Company events and team activities
  • A supportive, ambitious and quality-focused working environment

TLC has been delivering training since 2003, working with learners and employers to build skills, confidence and career progression.

We are a growing, quality-focused training provider, and we want experienced assessors who care about doing the job well.

If you want the freedom to manage your own caseload, work closely with learners and employers and be part of a team that values quality, we would like to hear from you.

TLC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, references, identity, right-to-work and qualification verification.
