Job Purpose

If you have worked for a training provider, supporting apprentices through their level 3 or 5 - this could be the perfect role for you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen at STS for two Early Years Apprenticeship Trainers, one trainer to teach level 3 and the other trainer to teach level 5 apprenticeships.

This position is a flexible hybrid role, consisting of home-based working and travelling to various sites for teaching and assessments.

As Apprenticeship Trainer, you will be responsible for supporting apprentices through to the successful completion of their apprenticeship programme, from initial advice and guidance to End Point Assessment.

You will join a forward-thinking team delivering outstanding apprenticeships meeting the needs of the apprentices, employers, and stakeholders.

Key role responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To train, coach, support and deliver the apprenticeship programme within their subject specialism and regional area.
  • Working independently to manage your hours and diary to meet the needs of STS, the employers and apprentices.
  • Support apprentices with all aspects of the apprenticeship delivery including Maths, English and additional learner support where applicable working with our ALS/FS specialist.
  • Facilitate and deliver through a range of different methods to create an engaging learning programme.
  • On-board new apprentices to the correct programme following the Skern Training and Skills process.
  • Maintain internal quality assurance processes for your subject area.
  • To carry out initial assessment with learners using a range of assessment methods.
  • To have a caseload of approx. 30–35 level 5 apprentices across several employers.
  • Ensure clear understanding of the standard and the impact on the learner, being the expert and providing insight to the business.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Capable & qualified to work across: Early Years Practitioner Level 2 (essential), Early Years Educator Level 3 (essential), Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 (for the level 5 role only)
  • Extensive knowledge & experience within the Early Years sector of work-based learning.
  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding on supporting learners through their apprenticeship.
  • Competent with Microsoft based software
  • Efficient time management & organisational skills
  • GCSEs English and Maths (C or above or key skills equivalent).
  • Knowledge of the OFSTED EIF.

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Experience of teaching via Teams/Zoom with experience of virtual learning and e-portfolios.
  • Knowledge of End Point Assessment activities and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant IFATE Standards.
  • Level 3 Safeguarding qualification, or prepared to work towards this.
  • Hold an internal quality assurance qualification (V1, D34 or equivalent)
  • Hold a recognised teacher/ training qualification (AET, PTLLS or equivalent) or willing to work towards.
  • Hold an assessor qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA, D32, D33 or equivalent).

  • Second stage: If successful, you will be invited to the final interview stage which will consist of a Teams interview with the Hiring Manager.
